We split the trip in two — Ubud's temples, terraces and wildlife for the first half, then Nusa Dua's beach resorts to slow down for the second.
THE BALI SWING, NEAR UBUD
Start at Tirta Empul's holy spring temple, then Tegalalang Rice Terrace for the classic green-tiered views before the midday tour buses arrive.
A morning at the Bali Swing — book early slots to avoid queues for the jungle-canopy swings — then the lesser-visited Nukad Tampaksiring rice fields.
A full day at Taman Safari — the drive-through safari, animal shows and water park all in one stop, easy with kids.
Head south to a beachfront resort in Nusa Dua for the second half of the trip — calmer water than the west-coast surf beaches.
A slow beach morning, then the cliffside views at Uluwatu in the afternoon for sunset.
A full day at the resort — pools, beach access, and no plans, which is exactly the point after five days of sightseeing.
